Great to join Cllr Aisha Abubakar for a community coffee morning in Cathall. We heard directly from local parents about the impact of rising summer temperatures on our schools, including George Tomlinson School, and the brilliant efforts already underway locally to adapt to this. We also talked about opportunities for young people in the area, and what more can be done to support them.

Great to have opened this year's Leytonstone Arts Trail this summer. For two weeks, artists across Leytonstone opened their doors, studios, living rooms, cafes, shop windows and garden sheds, to share their work with our neighbourhood.

Really enjoyed the South Woodford Summer Festival last Sunday! Lovely to catch up with Rena, Chair of the South Woodford Society, and to hear the local choir Bloom perform - a real showcase of the talent and community spirit we have here in the constituency.

What a brilliant day at the Leyton Jumble Trail! Streets full of neighbours out chatting, browsing, and getting to know each other, all while raising money for local food banks. Utterly wonderful to see this kind of community spirit in Leyton.

Really brilliant to join the Repair Cafe at Christ Church Halls in Wanstead on 11th July where I could put my sewing skills to good use and meet constituents committed to repairing and reusing in our community.

Fantastic to be at the Leytonstone Ex-Servicemen's Club on Sunday for the unveiling of a brand new mural celebrating 150 years of the Pearly Kings and Queens tradition!

I recently visited the food bank at Woodford Baptist Church, in partnerships with the Redbridge Food bank, the Trussell Trust and Citizens Advice Bureau. A huge thank you to all the volunteers who make this possible, your compassion and dedication are inspiring.

A pleasure to join the second ever Redbridge Pride event at Redbridge Town Hall last weekend – lots of great activities and community organisations from right across the Borough taking part!

Yesterday I visited Noor Ul Islam Mosque alongside the police, following Tuesday's deeply distressing incident outside the mosque. I want to thank the police for their swift response, and pay tribute to the members of the public who stepped in at the time.

Lovely to visit Wanstead Community Riding Stables, who provide not only access to nature for the whole of East London but apprenticeships for our community and work experience for our local schools.

It’s always a pleasure to return to St Margaret with St Columba Church in Leytonstone, where I joined the team helping out at their weekly foodbank - a vital service for local families, run by dedicated volunteers week in, week out.

Huge congratulations to Steve Hayden, our Aldersbrook milkman, on being awarded the Freedom of the City of London, the first milkman to receive this honour since it began in 1237!

I had a fantastic time at the Langthorne Park Festival – such an amazing annual event, with so many wonderful community organisations and local businesses (and delicious jerk chicken)! Good to speak to residents and help with casework alongside Cllr Aisha Abubakar. A huge thank you to everyone who helped organise, especially Rev Polly Kersys-Hull, Jane Brueseke, Caz Crowe, Luisa, Kehinde and Helen Crockford – and to all the volunteers who made it happen.

Yesterday in Leyton, we held a tournament for our young people to come together, play football, learn about the diverse stories in our national team, and raise our voices for England’s success.

Good to meet Minister Alex Norris last week to discuss changes to asylum and settlement, and to raise constituents’ cases, including our many Ukrainian refugees. This Refugee Week, I want to reaffirm our constituency’s pride in offering sanctuary to some of the world’s most vulnerable

Great to shout out some of our small hospitality businesses in Parliament - Noted Eel & Pie House in Leyton, Homies On Donkeys in the ’Stone, Bare Brew and City Place in Wanstead, and Fresh as a Daisy in South Woodford.

Pride month should be a time for celebration and joy. Sadly, that isn’t what I’ve heard from LGBT+ constituents and allies since the Equality and Human Rights Commission guidance was published this week.

Valuable meeting with Yusuf Hamza, Chair of the Waltham Forest Council of Mosques, this week to discuss what more can be done to address mosque security and combat Islamophobia and division in our society.

Last week, I visited Leyton and Wanstead Synagogue in Leytonstone to offer my support to our local Jewish community in light of the attacks on synagogues across London. This week has sadly shown again why we must continue to speak out against the evil bigotry of antisemitism wherever it arises.
