It was a pleasure to join members of the local Jewish community for a Passover Seder meal at the East London and Essex Liberal Synagogue last week. Sharing a meal with Rabbis Richard Jacobi and David Hulbert was a real privilege. I hope everyone who celebrated enjoyed a joyful Passover!

Great to join Deputy Mayor Debbie Weekes‑Bernard and Cllr Grace Williams at Waltham Forest Migrants Centre last month. The centre provides a vital immigration drop‑in service, helping residents connect with government services and access the support they need to settle, thrive, and feel welcomed in our community.

I know Royal Mail’s postal delivery issues have been affecting residents in Wanstead Village and across the constituency – so I’ll be working with local councillors to improve this service!

Inspired by the incredible work of the Waltham Forest branch on Lea Bridge Road - I’m running the London Marathon for Samaritans! This branch is hosted by Waltham Forest Council - so it is truly a service at the heart of our community.

This week I have been in Gabon, one of the most climate critical and nature-rich countries in the world, representing the UK as our Trade Envoy to Southern Africa. The engagement I had was so valuable, highlighting the huge opportunities for progress on shared objectives that centre on green economic growth.

Last week we held the AGM of the Prostate Cancer APPG I am proud to Chair. In the Chamber a few minutes later, I highlighted the powerful testimonies we’d just heard and called for more focus on prostate cancer action in the run-up to the Men and Boys Health Summit.

Awesome to join representatives from Space UK at Leytonstone School to talk to year 9 students about the breadth of careers available in the UK space sector – both here in London and not far away in the southeast.

What a special evening at the Faizan-e-Islam Centre for their Community Iftar last Sunday. Thank you to Al-Shaykh Ghulam Rabbani for hosting such a warm and generous gathering, and for bringing together MPs, councillors, faith leaders and local civic leaders to share in the spirit of Ramadan.

I welcome the Government’s decision to extend the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme by two years, a positive step forward following the conversations and engagements I’ve had with our local Ukrainian community.
