I recently met with Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley to discuss policing priorities across our constituency, including officer resourcing, continued issues with shoplifting, persistent reports of open drug use and dealing, and the closure of Chingford front desk.

I recently visited Whipps Cross Hospital to see first-hand the improvements being made to A&E, supported by more than £21 million of investment this year. It was a pleasure to tour the department with Dr Amanjit Jhund and Alastair Finney, and to hear from Dr Kausikh Nandi about how the changes will better support children and families.

Some great news folks - I’m pleased to let you know that following the concerns I raised with TfL alongside Wanstead Village Councillors, they have agreed to add extra stops on the W14 bus route towards Whipps Cross.

It was great to visit TSB in Leytonstone this week to hear about what this branch can offer to Leyton and Wanstead residents! I know how important local branches are for less mobile residents and those who struggle to access online banking.

Thanks to all the Wanstead businesses, councillors, Met officers, and council staff who joined our recent high street forum. It was an honest and constructive discussion about how we tackle crime and anti-social behaviour locally.

I had a very valuable meeting with Policing Minister Dame Diana Johnson MP, during which we discussed the issues raised by Leyton and Wanstead constituents in my postbag, surgeries, and walkabouts. This was also important to follow up after meetings with our local police leaders.

As part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, I’m hosting an online public forum on Tuesday 1st July alongside representatives from Redbridge and Waltham Forest Council’s ASB team and the Metropolitan Police. We want to hear directly from you about the issues you're facing in your neighbourhood and talk about what action is being taken.

This week, I met with several key people from the Metropolitan Police, including Chief Superintendent Daniel Card, Superintendent Sarah Jackson and the Waltham Forest ASB Team and their Lead Cllr Khevyn Limbajee. We addressed the urgent and deeply concerning situation on Selby Road. The area has been severely affected by Drug and gang activity, causing significant harm to our community.

TFL has just released their list of stations being considered for step-free access funding, and Snaresbrook Underground Station is officially on it! This is a huge milestone and it's all thanks to the incredible efforts of our community, campaigners, and local councillors. But we’re not over the finish line just yet.

Great to be out on Jesse Road this week with Cllr Khevyn Limbajee. We spoke with residents about issues around anti-social behaviour, drug use, and building security, these concerns have a real impact on daily life.

Good to meet with Borough Commander Dan Card last week to talk through some of the key issues facing our area, from anti-social behaviour and retail theft to police presence and visibility. These are concerns I hear regularly about in our constituency, and I’ll keep working to make sure our local policing teams have the support they need.

We talked about how we can support our local councils with their regeneration plans, and how we make sure the government’s target of building 1.5 million new homes nationwide will strengthen housing stock in London.

The River Roding is such an important part of our community. I’ve been out in Epping Forest speaking with the City of London Corporation about how we can protect it and also enhance access to this green space.
