Keeping Schools Safe and Cool During Heatwaves

Schools should be safe places where children can learn and thrive, but parents have rightly raised concerns with me about classrooms becoming too hot during recent heatwaves.
The Department for Education is already embedding adaptation into new school programmes, but I want to make sure we feed into this, so this summer I've met with local schools and the council to discuss practical solutions, including cooling systems, more shade and greener school spaces.
Climate change is already affecting our children, and we need to make sure our schools are fully prepared.
