Marking the Month of the Military Child

I was proud to host a reception in Parliament marking the Month of the Military Child, bringing together the Royal British Legion, Never Such Innocence, parliamentarians, and young people from Armed Forces families.

It was a real privilege to hear directly from Service children, who shared their experiences through art and poetry. Their contributions were a powerful reminder of both the resilience and the challenges that come with military life - from frequent moves and disrupted education to long periods of separation from loved ones.

At a time when the Government is looking at SEND reform and expanding the Armed Forces Covenant, it is vital that the needs of Service children are properly understood and reflected in policy. Events like this reinforce the importance of listening directly to young people and ensuring their voices help shape the decisions that affect them.

My thanks to the Royal British Legion and Never Such Innocence for their partnership in delivering such an important event.
