Met Police Stop and Search Charter Meeting

I attended a meeting with the Met Police to discuss the use of stop and search powers, a topic that has impacts many across London, especially within marginalised communities.

We discussed the Stop and Search Charter, created in collaboration with individuals and community organisations like Fight for Change. It’s aimed at improving how stop and search is carried out and making the process more transparent, respectful, and accountable.

The charter includes key principles such as:

▪️Ensuring clear communication and explanation

▪️Promoting independent scrutiny and community involvement

▪️Upholding the right to be informed about why a stop is taking place
