It’s been another busy month both locally and in Parliament. Here’s a look at some of what I’ve been working on in June:
Knocked on doors in Cann Hall, Leyton and Grove Green, listening directly to residents and talking through local priorities. ✨
Contributed to the Armed Forces Commissioner Bill debate, pushing for whistleblower protection and tackling bullying in the Forces.
Returned to Selby Road with police and council leaders, pressing for a coordinated response to persistent anti-social behaviour. 🎯
Responded to the escalation between Israel and Iran, urging renewed negotiations. 🌍
Visited Snaresbrook Primary School, meeting bright pupils and dedicated staff who make the school so special.
Led the UK’s first delegation to Mining Week in Lubumbashi, strengthening ties around critical minerals and our net zero transition. 🌐
Backed the Langthorne Park Festival, which returned bigger and better thanks to £5,000 in extra funding we secured.
Joined Maximus in Leyton for Employability Day, recognising their fantastic Restart Scheme helping people into jobs. 💼
Met with Waltham Forest Council for my quarterly regeneration talks, pushing forward on housing and local development.
Spoke in Parliament on 4 June, condemning killings in Gaza and calling again for stronger sanctions. 🕊️
Tabled questions demanding sanctions on Israeli extremists and urgent healthcare access for Palestinian children.
Welcomed the Government’s 10 June sanctions on Ben Gvir and Smotrich, taken alongside key international partners. 🤝
Assisted local residents at surgeries, supporting with housing problems, community safety, and justice campaigns.
Delivered a speech on housing, highlighting the desperate need for more social homes in Cann Hall and Cathall. 🏘️
Met with Mozambique’s Energy Minister and senior DRC officials, building stronger UK trade partnerships.
Questioned defence experts in a Select Committee session on Arctic security, stressing the need for better surveillance. ❄️
Travelled with the Defence Committee to France and Germany, strengthening UK cooperation with NATO allies.
