Monthly Roundup: May 2025

May has been a busy and rewarding month, from international engagements to local community events. I had the privilege of leading my first Trade Envoy delegation to Angola, visiting more of our wonderful local schools and supporting important campaigns in both Parliament and the constituency.


Here’s some of what I got up to 👇

◾Led my first Trade Envoy delegation to Angola ✈️🌍

◾Participated in Multiple meetings about Whipps Cross Hospital

◾Ate lots of cake at a VE Day Street Party on Forest Drive East 🎉

◾Organised a Walkabout on Selby Road with Police and the ASB Team

◾Met with the Head Teacher at Connaught Girls' School

◾Spoke at the Workers Day Memorial 👷‍♂️

◾Supported GMB Ethnicity Pay Gap reporting campaign 💼📊

◾Raised a question in Parliament on RAF overflights of Palestine

◾Chaired the APPG for the Armed Forces Community on the Armed Forces Covenant 🪖🤝

◾Intervened on the in the Football Governance Bill ⚽

◾Spoke with Labour Friends of Europe on European Defence 🛡️

◾Met with Matthew Pennycook to discuss Whipps Cross Hospital

◾Hosted a Space Industrial Roundtable with the Minister for Defence Industry

◾Spoke with parents at Wanstead High School 👨‍👩‍👧‍👧🏫

◾Held discussions with UK in a Changing Europe on ethnic minority voters

◾Delivered a speech at the Labour African Network 🗣️

◾Visited Buxton School in Leytonstone

◾Held a street surgery on Jesse Road with Cllr Khevyn Limbajee.

◾Hosted the Botswana Malaria Roundtable in Parliament 🏛️🌍

◾Discussed smart metering and infrastructure with business 💡

◾Chaired the BAME Labour meeting

◾Spoke with constituents at the Lobby for Palestine

◾Met with representatives from the North East London NHS Foundation Trust

◾Learned about the Spitfire AA810 Project and their STEM initiative 💙

◾Went to the U.S with the Defence Select Committee to understand their perspectives

◾Engaged with the Waltham Forest Council of Mosques 🕌

◾Joined the Age UK Veteran Lunch at Leyton Orient 🎖️

◾Joined the Volunteers at the foodbank at St Margaret’s and St Columba’s

◾Spoke with Professor Ian Jacobs, Chair of Barts Health NHS Trust 🏥

◾Attended the Leyton Orienteer and Prostate Cancer awareness event
