New mental health emergency department and 24/7 community hub coming to the constituency

From your emails and responses to my recent survey, I know many of you are concerned about accessing local mental health support and long waiting times.
I’m therefore really pleased that Whipps Cross will be getting a dedicated mental health emergency department, providing specialist care for people in crisis.
Waltham Forest and Redbridge will also get an NHS mental health community centre, offering walk-in support without the need for a referral.
I visited both Whipps Cross and NELFT’s Crisis Assessment Hub at Goodmayes last week to understand the challenges they face and what they thought of the new investment. There is still more to do, but this is an important step towards more accessible local services.
