Summer Round Up 2026

As September begins and Parliament returns, I’m looking back on a busy summer recess. It was a real pleasure to get out and about at our many summer festivals and speak with constituents about the issues that matter most to them.

🛒Hosted a pop-up surgery outside M&S and Aldi in Leytonstone.

🌊 Wrote to Thames Water and the Environment Agency about the pollution of the River Roding

🚇 Visited the TfL office to raise concerns about services on the Central line and accessibility issues at Snaresbrook, Wanstead and Leyton stations.

🇺🇦 Marked Ukrainian Independence Day.

🏫 Met with school leadership & with the Head of Redbridge Council to raise ongoing disruption at Wanstead High School.

🎓 Attended Leyton College for A-level results day.

🚶 Met with the South Woodford Society for a walkabout of South Woodford

🗓️ Held appointment surgeries with constituents.

🎙️ Spoke with the Veterans in Politics podcast about Op Pitting and the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

🏥 Discussed redevelopment and the new mental health emergency department during a visit to Whipps Cross Hospital.

🏛️ Met with London Councils.

💙 Visited the Crisis Assessment Unit at Goodmayes.

🗳️ Canvassed with Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP for the Trinity Ward by-election.

📻 Spoke with British Forces News on the anniversary of Op Pitting.

🌳 Hosted a community meeting with Friends of Langthorne Park.

👩‍ Met with Waltham Forest Youth Services and the VAWG team.

🏏 Joined Wanstead & Snaresbrook Cricket Club for its Junior Evening.

☕ Hosted a community coffee morning with Cllr Aisha Abubakar.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Visited the Youth Community Hub in Leytonstone.

🎓 Visited Leytonstone School for GCSE results day.

✈️ Travelled to Beckingham and RAF Waddington to engage with cadets at summer training camps.

🖼️ Addressed the opening of the Tapestry of Black Britons exhibition at the National Army Museum.

🍞 Visited the Trussell Trust Redbridge food bank

🏫 Went to Davies Lane primary to meet the students and see the school

⛪ Visited Holy Trinity church to meet with the Vicar Polly Kersys-Hull

🔧 Helped out at the repair cafe in Wanstead

🏳️‍🌈 Joined Redbridge Pride
