Visit to Stay Safe East

ree

Earlier this week I had the privilege of visiting Stay Safe East in Waltham Forest, where they’ve been transforming lives since their founding in 2010.

I met their CEO, Angie Airlie, and some of their brilliant team to learn more about their work supporting disabled people facing domestic abuse, crime, and other challenges.

Stay Safe East dismantles barriers that disabled victims face in accessing safety and support, particularly in housing. During my visit, I discussed the charity’s mission, heard about the challenges their clients face, and saw some incredible artwork.

Angie recently appeared on Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4, powerfully highlighting the intersection of disability and domestic abuse. It’s inspiring to see their work being recognised on such a platform.

A huge thank you to Angie and the team for the warm welcome and for the vital work you do!
