Visit to Noor Ul Islam Mosque following incident outside the mosque

Yesterday I visited Noor Ul Islam Mosque alongside the police, following Tuesday's deeply distressing incident outside the mosque.

I want to thank the police for their swift response, and pay tribute to the members of the public who stepped in at the time.

The full circumstances remain under investigation, and it's right that the police are given the space to establish the facts.

It was important to me to meet with worshippers and community leaders today, to offer my support directly and hear about the impact this has had on the community.

There is no place for hatred in Leyton and Wanstead, and I will continue to stand with our community in the days ahead.
